Traslasierra Valley.
Traslasierra Region is one of the main tourist attractions of this province due to its three artificial dams, an outstanding mountain chain with the highest peak of Córdoba, volcanoes, a magnificent valley, palm groves, forests, rivers and local towns with an adequate tourist infrastructure.
In this region two areas are brought together by the Camino de las Altas Cumbres (Altas Cumbres road), the Northeast Area and Traslasierra Area.
In this region, prehispanic pictographs can be found in Charquina and evidence of
mining activities in La Bismutina.
In the 20th century, two dams were built thanks to the new technological development, enhancing tourism offer.
Traslasierra, with an elevation of 2100 metres, constitutes one of the most attractive sceneries of Córdoba. You can get to Traslasierras from Northeastern roads as well as from Altas Cumbres and Pampa de Achala roads.
The Quebrada del Condorito National Park and the Pampa de Achala Provincial Nature Reserve are some of the natural areas of the region. This region surrounded by Sierras Grandes mountain has luxuriant vegetation and crop yields of potatoes, fruit and aromatic plants, and vineyard.
This area has been a vacation spot for over 100 years, mostly because of Mina Clavero - a town situated in region of impossibly clear mountain streams, waterfalls, and the grand wilds of the Sierras de Cordoba.
The Traslasierra Valley offers an extraordinary relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. This Valley is characterized by a mild climate, pure air, clear blue sky, large conservation areas of natural vegetation, and cultivated lands.
This beautiful Valley is located at the foot of the solid and breathtaking Cerro Champaquí, the highest hill in the province. The area is also known for its black ceramic crafts, homemade jams, alfajores (sandwich cookies filled with jam or caramel), regional wines, and the kindest hospitality of the locals.
